The Art for Healing Program began in 2009 when Nancy Bartholomaei-Olson discovered the program and decided to partner with her husband, Eric Olson, a fine art photographer and owner of Windmill Creek Studios in Port Royal, to bring the program to the Lewistown Hospital. The Olsons donated the program's first piece "A Light at the End of the Tunnel" photographed by Eric Olson. This piece is currently on display in the Hospital's surgical consulting room.
The idea behind the program is to promote patient's healing through art. Studies show that art in the right kind is very healing. Some examples include landscapes, animals, and pieces with sky, water and depth.
The Olsons were instrumental in bringing the Art for Healing Program to Lewistown Hospital and Mrs. Olson heads the Art for Healing Committtee that selects the fine art pieces to be displayed throughout the hospital.
Donations are accepted for the purchase of future fine art pieces. Please call (717) 242-7365 if you are interested in making a monetary or fine art donation to the Art for Healing Program.
